Hello Everybody,
Below you will find the results for the BV BASEBALL CLUB for game action over the weekend of May 6 – 8:
BV 8s RED: Finished 2 – 2 in the 9U Kalahari Klassic Tournament in Sandusky, OH. This is an outstanding weekend of playing up in age. These kids got pushed, and did a good job competing with the older kids. Fun was had by all in the awesome indoor water park, and on the field, this team was able to compete and get all the way to the Semi Finals. In the end, they lost to the BV 9s RED in the game to get to the championship!!
BV 8s BLACK: Finished with a 1 – 2 – 1 record in the Atlantic Coast Mother’s Day Classic in Pittsburgh, PA. These players also had a very competitive weekend. I had a chance to coach them in 3 of their 4 contests. We were more than competitive, and I felt we could have easily won this tournament. The loss that kept us out of the final game, we had control of until the last inning. In the end, these players are getting better!! I had a great time working with the kids on this team, and I look forward to them continuing to get better!!
BV 9s RED: Won the Championship of the Kalahari Klassic Tournament in Sandusky, OH. This team went a perfect 5 – 0 on the weekend!! This raises their record to a perfect 13 – 0 and first place trophies in both of the tournaments that they have entered. They are trying to build momentum for the Super NIT at the end of the month, and they will look to stay on the winning side of things this weekend in a tournament in Tarentum, PA. Keep working hard because the games are going to keep getting tougher.
BV 9s BLACK: Finished with a 2 – 2 record in the Atlantic Coast Mother’s Day Tournament in Pittsburgh, PA. This is another team I was able to spend time with in this tournament, and I was very proud of the improvement we showed from Saturday to Sunday. The player’s on this team are starting to figure it out, and we grabbed both of our wins on Sunday playing good baseball all day. They will look to keep winning ball games by competing in a league double header this weekend.
BV 10s RED: Won both ends of a league double header on Saturday. This team put it on the Ohio Valley 11U team in both games. Our group here has a ton of talent, and they are chomping at the bit to get back into tournament action this weekend in Tarentum.
BV 10s BLACK: Finished the Atlantic Coast Baseball Mother’s Day Tournament in Pittsburgh with a 2 – 2 record. This group also showed their capabilities by beating the Ohio Bombers in their opening game of the event. They made it to the Championship bracket before losing the quarter final game by a single run in extra innings. This group is getting better each time they play, and they are looking to get better this weekend in a tournament in Tarentum, PA.
BV 11s RED: Won both ends of a double header on Saturday. Our guys put it to the New Castle Storm 11U team, winning both games by the mercy rule!! Tournament play is next for this team, as they will be playing in a tournament in Tarentum, PA this weekend!!
BV 11s BLACK: Finished the Atlantic Coast Baseball Mother’s Day Tournament with a 2 – 2 – 1 record. This team did a great job, and made a fantastic run in this event. In the end, they lost a quarterfinal game in the bottom of the last inning. The players on this team are also getting better and competing at a high level. They look to keep it going this weekend with a Saturday double header against the Pittsburgh Stars.
BV 12s RED: Won the Championship of the Atlantic Coast Baseball Mother’s Day Tournament. This team had a heck of a weekend — finishing with a perfect 7 – 0 record, and bringing home another championship to the program!! In the end, it came down to our guys and the Central PA Cougars. The Cougars are recognized as one of the best teams in our region, but on this day, we took it to the Cougars winning by an 8 – 2 margin!! This team will be playing in another tournament this weekend in Tarentum, PA!!
BV 12s BLACK: This team finished the Atlantic Coast Baseball Mother’s Day Tournament with a 4 – 1 – 1 record. This is this group’s first loss of the season, which shows you what kind of start this team has had to their season!! In the end, they lost a tough battle to the Central PA Cougars in the semi final game. These guys have a weekend off, and they deserve it. The following weekend off to Toledo for a Nations Baseball Tournament!!
**That was a lot of baseball for the Mother’s Day Weekend!! I hope that all of our Mother’s had a wonderful day on Sunday!!
**We ended the weekend with a club record of: 29 wins 11 losses and 3 ties. Pretty good weekend!!
