2019 Recap – Powerful Tradition

Our program is rich in history and success!! Speaking of success, what a great 2019 season we had, with over 120 tourney finishes in the semi finals or deeper! A special shout out to the BV 12s RED for finishing the season with a 68 – 3 record and winning the Championship of the 104 team COOPERSTOWN DREAMS PARK TOURNAMENT!! This was BV’s 12th Cooperstown Dreams Park Championship – a National Record that quite frankly no other program is even close!! This 12U team finished the season on a 44 game winning streak!! Another huge shoutout to BV 13s RED for finishing the season with a 57-3 record, and winning the 44 team Triple Crown Sports National Championship in Myrtle Beach, SC. The 13s RED finished the season winning their last 51 games!! One more shoutout to a team that finished their season on a special stage and did something special, BV 11s RED went to Cooperstown and played in a Dreams Park 12U week long event – they not only competed with the older kids, they put fear in them, finishing with a 6-2 record and really making some news at Dreams Park!! This past season brought many great baseball moments and memories. Our players excelled on the field at a high level, but it all starts with our wonderful winter training program and how hard our coaching staff worked with our players. I know the coaches are locked and ready to go again this winter to provide even a better off season training program to better the skills of our players and prepare them for a great 2020 season!!

As players in our program excel at the younger ages, we have dominated on the older “Showcase Tournaments” that a lot of our teams in the 14U – 18U ages compete in. These high school age players have played on many College fields in front of college scouts – Coaches Cutshall and Nery are very much on top of this part of the program. Having two coaches that have been through the grind of the recruiting process is very valuable to these future college baseball players!! These coaches have also dealt with getting drafted to the big leagues, and believe it that some of these young players will have the opportunity to be drafted out of high school.

The BV BASEBALL 2019 year was also wonderful off the field. We have had several current and BV Alum players accepting offers to play baseball in college. Some of these include: Gavin MIller (Auburn University), Chase Kriebel (Florida Gulf Coast), Nick Partsch (Sienna University), Drew Lafferty (Kentucky), Luke Lambert (Ohio U.), Anthony Sinicropi (Kent State), JJ Wetherholt (West Virginia University), Cameron Weston (Michigan University), WIll Ray (Wake Forest), Matthew Shepard (Mercyhurst), Luke Jackson (Mercyhurst), and Daylyn Brickner (Youngstown State University) – We are very proud of these young men, and we have many more that will be signing to further their education and baseball careers in the very near future.

You want more? How about the 2019 MLB DRAFT – where BV BASEBALL had three players drafted!!

JJ Bleday: Led the country in Homeruns as a starting outfielder for the College World Series Champion Vanderbilt University!! JJ was also a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award (given to the top player in all of college baseball) — JJ was drafted with the 4th pick in round 1 of the MLB draft by the Miami Marlins!!

Seth Gray: Drafted in the 4h round by the Minnesota Twins – Seth played his college baseball at Wright State University!!

Robert Klinchock: Was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 35th round!!

ONE MORE SHOUTOUT: Brendan McKay – Long time BV player – and current Tampa Bay Ray two way player – has been called up from the minors and is now being used as a regular starting pitcher for the Rays (this only after 2 years in the minors) – At the time of this email, BK is currently 2-1 on the mound for the Rays, as they are competing for a wildcard spot in the American League. Last Friday, Brendan got another win pitching at historic Fenway Park in Boston!!

Thanks,

Brian

BV 12U Red win Cooperstown Championship

Thursday night the BV 12s RED won the program’s 12th Cooperstown Championship by beating the Michigan Gorillas by a score of 8-0!! The whole week was a total show by our guys – on and off the field. In baseball village, I watched my players bond more than we already have this season – a brotherhood that will always be a special part of this team – They were a singing and dancing group – they also traded pins, and formed friendships with other players from all over the country – our most special group of friends was from one of the Hawaii teams, who gave each player a special beaded necklace, mine is hanging on our trophy and will be a great memory for me when I look at it!! On the field we DOMINATED teams. On our way to this Championship we broke the Cooperstown Dreams Park All Time Team Home Run Record for a week by hitting an amazing 89 Home Runs (the old record was 82) – For the playoffs we went 5-0 scoring an impressive 78 runs and allowing only 8 runs. We have many individual performances to talk about, but I will save those for the banquet so you can put a story to a face!! It was the first time my wife and daughter came to Cooperstown and they left with many memories that we talked about on the way home. This park has been a significant part of our program, and quite frankly, my life as a travel baseball director. They treat our program up there as royalty, it is a historical place, and BV is a big part of the history. This team added to that history. We played the game as a unit and competed hard every step of the way. As a coach of these young men I couldn’t be more proud of their accomplishment. We took Cooperstown by storm, made it our home for a week, took memories that these players will have for themselves for the rest of their lives!! We left Cooperstown as Champions and more importantly a band of brothers!!

Thanks,

Brian

BV 13U Red Win Triple Crown National Championship

I wanted to send you all an email about a special accomplishment about one of our teams, BV 13s RED!! Today they won the Triple Crown Sports Summer National Championship in Myrtle Beach, SC!! They won this 44 team National Championship finishing with a week record 7-0. In the 7 games we played six different teams, run ruling all six teams!!

Equally as impressive is what this team did on a whole this season, this game today marks their 51st straight win!! They finish the season with a 57 – 3 mark!! Along the way they won a World Series qualifier for Perfect Game, they won a USSSA Super NIT bid to Disney, and of course the National Championship in Myrtle!!

This team sticks together no matter the circumstance, when the game reaches its most trying times they do not point a finger at anyone, they have discovered the TRUE meaning of TEAM!! I have coached this group for the past two seasons – in that two year run we finish with 122 wins and 8 losses!! We have won and lost together in a way that makes a coach proud.

Sometimes, in our program when a team accomplishes something great, it is important to stop and enjoy your accomplishment. This team has been on an amazing run – A National Championship Run – I am so proud of this group and the way the play the game!! Congratulations to BV 13s RED!!

Thanks,

Brian

I wanted to send you all an email about Brendan McKay, who was drafted with the 4th pick of the 1st round of the MLB draft last night by the Tampa Bay Rays.  Brendan was the first college player taken; as the first three picks where high school players. To hear Brendan’s name last night being called in this draft was a very emotional and proud moment for me as his old coach.  Brendan was a BV lifer, and played with our program for ALL the possible years we offered, during his 7 years in our organization, BK was unstoppable at the plate and on the mound.  He has become quite famous for his on field stone face and ice in his veins demeanor, and that has always been there from the time he started playing with us at age 9.  He was always a great kid – a quiet kid that just showed up and gave you everything he had every game.  Through my years of running BV, I have coached against some of the best in the big leagues today, we yearly competed against Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, Kris Bryant, Buster Posey, and the list goes on and on – all these players dominated the game all the way through.  Brendan growing up was not as big as these kids, he was tall and lean, but I have to tell you that he dominated the game just like the greats of the big leaguers today.  In his time in a BV uniform, I can’t remember a time he looked outmatched as a hitter, and I can’t remember a time where he was really knocked around on the mound.  He has worked very hard to build his frame, and he is a feared left handed hitter, as he was drafted as a first basemen.  None of the accomplishments and awards BK has won are a surprise to me – he has always been at the top of the level he was playing – what he has done in his college career is the same thing he did in his high school career and the same thing he did in his travel baseball career and that is in a simple word DOMINATE!!  It was an honor to coach this young man for the years that I was able to, I am so proud of his work ethic and what he has worked hard to accomplish, and I am very happy for his family (his dad Bruce still stops down at West Mayfield from time to time to say hi and watch a BV practice)!!  I’m not sure what the future will hold for this young man, but I know the Rays got a big time player, with a big league demeanor, and a fantastic person!!  Hats off to Brendan McKay!!
Thanks,
Brian

BV BASEBALL 2017 — BIG NEWS!!!

Hello Everybody,
I wanted to send you all an email about an important move for the BV BASEBALL CLUB starting in the fall of this season.  We are merging with the Sports Zone Express.  I have been working with the Sports Zone staff on this merger for the past few months.  I feel that the BV BASEBALL CLUB fields some of the best baseball teams in the country.  The Sports Zone Express is a local program with some wonderful trainers and coaches.  They compete in local tournaments, and have pretty good success doing so.  What does it all mean?  Let me break this down into a baseball season, and as you read you will find the only real change is that we have a larger staff of qualified instructors and coaches:
WINTER TRAINING:

**We will still use Pittsburgh facilities as we have done – as well as HHH.  Nothing here is changing — I am working with Greentree now to set up our slots there; as well as looking at some other options — I like the idea of keeping kids close to home (especially during the week) with school in the winter.  This idea has worked very well for me for the past 21 years, and we will continue to do it that way.
**One area that is really changing here is the number of guys and instructors we can have at our winter practices.  We will continue to work hard to develop players at the highest level and along with myself and the current BV staff, we will have the Sports Zone staff as well!!  We will have all of our stations with qualified men in each station.  Click on this link to see the Sports Zone instructors:  http://www.beavercountysportszone.com/staff
SPRING/SUMMER SEASON:

**We will continue to play the toughest and the most elite schedule possible for our BV teams that can play at that level.  The Super NITs, Perfect Game and USA events are all on our radar for any teams capable of competing at that level.  The BV RED teams and some of our BV BLACK teams play that type of schedule now, and they will continue to play that type of schedule moving forward.
**The excitement here is the ability to have such quality in our high school ages.  We look forward to helping our athletes reach their goals of playing college baseball.  We have a current Orioles scout as a member of our team (Rich Pasquale), and we have a few current MLB guys as well to help in the winter training.  The staff has a number of ex division I guys that played in the minors/majors to help guide our older athletes on the right path.  Guys that understand the recruiting process and will help our players be seen by the right people.  Patrick Cutshall will be in charge of these high school age teams.  He has done an excellent job in recent years, and being able to put this all together makes a lot of sense.  Pat has done an outstanding job of communicating with colleges, and with him in charge we will see to it that our player’s get in front of the right people.
**I will be in charge of a lot of things kind of like I do now.  The day to day operation of this program will fall on Myself and Patrick.  I will be handling the scheduling and all parts of the pre-high school ages.  Patrick will be handling the day to day operations within our high school ages.  We will work as one unit – with the coaches and instructors helping ALL ages.  Having this type of staff makes my life (now 42 years old) a lot easier.  I am a very intense about the game, it has become quite a passion for me – those that I coach can see that, but to have a staff around me that can help coach these teams, and be part of our practice instruction will be so valuable for all our players.
COST:

**With all the new instructors and coaches that are involved — the 2017 baseball season will not cost one more penny.  The 2016 budgets will be duplicated in each age group.
CLOSING COMMENTS:
**This program has always been one of excellence.  Our teams are nationally recognized and respected.  I have been so lucky through the last 21 years to field some of the best teams in the country.  I have had the ability to train and work with some of the best athletes to EVER come out of Western PA.  This merger, for me, extends the dream that I have been living for the past 21 years.  To field the best teams, to give great instruction and prepare players for the highest level possible, and seek out and play the best competition for each team!!  I love the staff that I currently have, and I am now proud to be part of a larger staff of guys that are “baseball guys” and share that passion that I have.
In closing, this is a great time to be a part of this program!!  We are building things to be bigger and better than they have ever been!!  I greatly look forward to this merger, and how BV EXPRESS can take the world by storm!!
If you have any questions please feel free to send me an email or give me a call!!
As Always,
Thanks for all you do,
Brian
